Members of the Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body, AFL-CIO joined their newest affiliate NYSNA (New York State Nurses Association) as they rallied outside the Administrative Wing of the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York to protest more layoffs at the hospital. Tony Pagano, Labor Body President, assured those present that the 130,000 working families of the Labor Council would stand behind them. He pointed out that the workers at the hospital did an extraordinary job and were essential to not only Westchester but the surrounding counties.

Nurses were protesting the recent layoff of nurses and other hospital staff while the hospital gave a $205,000 raise to one of the hospital's chief administrators. This is the third set of layoffs since December and the nurses are concerned with patient care. They complained about patient/staff ratio and lack of supplies among other things.
